Building community. Igniting passion. Preserving history. Now a decade into its nonprofit status, the Roxie has solidified its indelible space in the San Francisco arts ecosystem. We serve as a hub for thought-provoking foreign, independent, and arthouse cinema, as well as an important host venue for specialty film festivals. It doesn’t end there, though—your support of our mission helps us cement our ability to uplift our community for years to come.

Where does your donation go?

$10 underwrites a student submission to Roxie Mixtape Mini Film Festival

$25 helps us get the word out about our programming through community outreach, social media and other marketing efforts

$50 provides us with basic maintenance of our historic building

$100 covers the cost of shipping for a 35mm film print from LA – one way

$200 funds a field trip for a local school to visit our theater

Gifts to the Roxie help us sustain rare exhibition of 16 and 35mm film on our carbon arc projectors. They help us collaborate with our community, raising proceeds for neighbor organizations like Muttville Senior Dog Rescue and supporting job training and experience for ToolWorks and Lighthouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired. They help us support local filmmakers, allowing them to view their work on our big screen before it’s sent off to audiences from the Bay Area to around the world. We believe film has the power to inspire and inform future generations, guiding our priority to hold educational screenings for community schools. Your gifts help us encourage students’ sociopolitical and cultural awareness, allowing them exposure to the arts that they may not have otherwise had access to. Most importantly, your gifts bolster our mission to bring people together to meet and connect through distinctive cinematic experiences.

ANNUAL FUND FAQ

What is the Roxie’s Annual Fund Campaign, and why do you ask me to make a gift every year?
The Roxie Annual Fund Campaign is our annual giving program. It helps provide unrestricted support to our nonprofit organization, specifically our day-to-day operations as well as a variety of programs, including educational screenings, support to local filmmakers, job training, and serving as a host for community partners.

So, the Roxie’s Annual Fund Campaign will occur year after year, and I’ll always be asked to make a gift?
Yes. What you and other patrons accomplish with your gift to the Roxie is the ongoing support of our organization and local film community for years to come.

I’m usually asked to increase my gift. Why is that?
Annual operating costs at the Roxie increase just like food, healthcare, and gasoline prices. As a result, so does our Annual Fund goal.

How much should I give?
Every gift is important, and whatever level makes sense for you to donate at helps support our goal! Whether your gift is $50, $500, $5,000 or $50,000, the most important consideration is that you choose to make a difference for the Roxie.

Does the Roxie accept corporate matches?
We do! Many employers throughout the Bay Area provide a matching donation, allowing you to double your donation to the Roxie.
