Presented by OUTlook, TORREY PINES is a stop-motion animated feature film by director Clyde Petersen. Based on a true story, the film is a queer punk coming-of-age tale, taking place in Southern California in the early 1990’s. With a schizophrenic single mother fueled by hallucinations of political conspiracy and family dysfunction, twelve-year-old Petersen is taken on a cross-country adventure that will forever alter the family as they know it.

“A masterful use of paper cutouts and Post-Its, symbols and icons, a visual shorthand that becomes open but never, never loses its distinctive self.”
– The Stranger

This feature will be preceded by DATING SUCKS: A GENDERQUEER MISADVENTURE, the first episode of an animated documentary series by Sam Berliner about the successes, failures, and confusions dating as a genderqueer trans person.

Directed by Clyde Petersen. 60 min. DCP. USA. 2016.

NOTE FILMS START RIGHT AT THE LISTED SHOWTIME. Roxie Theater trailers play during the 30 minutes prior to showtime.
