SF IndieFest: DADDY ISSUES
First show: February 09
Maya, an aspiring artist, insta-stalks Jasmine, a designer, until she perfectly places herself in her wake, leading to insta-friendship. But as their friendship blossoms into something more, Maya discovers Jasmine’s secret cash source: she’s a sugar baby to someone with a peculiar age-play fetish.
The bizarre love triangle plays out until everyone’s life is a complete mess in this sex positive romance of the modern world. It’s uncomfortable at times, but the cotton-candy production design places the audience in a world perfectly crafted by a bold, uncompromising filmmaker. Amara Cash delivers a picturesque nightmare of post-modern Queer cinema.
Directed by Amara Cash. Narrative. 88 minutes. USA. 2018.
