LOST HIGHWAY (New Restoration)

It looks fantastic, it has a wildly eclectic cast, and most of all– it’s pure, unadulterated Lynch.

A tormented jazz musician (Bill Pullman) finds himself lost in an enigmatic story involving murder, surveillance, gangsters, doppelgangers, infidelity, and an impossible transformation that occurs inside the confines of a prison cell. Lost Highway marks a return from the wilderness for Lynch, and the arrival of his more radical expressionism—alternating omnipresent darkness with overexposed whiteouts, dead air with the belligerent soundtrack assault of industrial metal bands, and the tactile sensation that everything is really happening with the infinite delusions of schizophrenic thought.

Directed by David Lynch. Written by David Lynch and Barry Gifford. United States. 1997. 134 minutes. New 4k Restoration. DCP .A Janus Films release.
