Film School Drop Outs presents ROCK ‘N’ ROLL HIGH SCHOOL

January 24 only

“Film School Drop Outs” is the Roxie Theater’s over-the-top cult movie experience brought to you by Peaches Christ Productions. This time they bring you 70s classic ROCK ‘N’ ROLL HIGH SCHOOL!

With the help of the Ramones (who play themselves), a group of rock loving students take over their school to combat its newly oppressive administration!

Co-directed by Allen Arkush (HOLLYWOOD BOULEVARD, CADDYSHACK II) and Joe Dante (GREMLINS, THE HOWLING), Rock ‘n’ Roll High School follows the story of Ramones-obsessed high school student, Riff Randell (P.J. Soles), and her classmates at Vince Lombardi High School, which keeps losing principals to nervous breakdowns because of the students’ love of rock ‘n’ roll and general disregard for education.

When their new rock-hating Principal Miss Togar (Mary Woronov) takes away Riff’s tickets to the Ramones concert (where she plans to give them the song that she wrote called “Rock ‘n’ Roll High School), she and her best friend Kate Rambeau (Dey Young) have to find another way to meet their heroes—by winning a radio contest. When Miss Togar and a group of parents attempt to burn a pile of rock records, the students, joined by the Ramones (who are made honorary students) overthrow the teachers and hall monitors to take over the high school.

Directed by Allen Arkush and Joe Dante. 1979. 93 mins. Digital.
