Front of House Staff
Are you passionate about movies? Do you have excellent customer service skills? Want to be part of the team at the historic Roxie Theater?
Well good news! The Roxie is looking for the right person to join our small pool of exceptional employees. We are looking to hire someone to train to be a substitute in each position with room for growth as permanent shifts become available. This person will be able to work as Box Office Manager, Concessionaire & Little Roxie. Must be available to work at least 2 shifts a month. While experience working in a theater is desirable, it is not a requirement. A passion for exceptional customer service is.
Pay rate: $15-$17.50 per hour, depending on the shift.
-Using a point of sale (POS) system in Box Office, Little Roxie and Concessions
-Responsible for opening and closing duties
-Being a team player who works well with our Roxie family
-Maintaining a clean appearance and work space
-Able to clean quickly with attention to detail
-Can lift 35 pounds
-Protecting our theaters
-Janitorial work and cleaning between show times
-Ability to assist with line control, special events and support volunteer staff
-Comfort with technology from Ipad scanning to BluRay players
-Love watching movies and sharing your excitement for Roxie programing with our guests
-A passion and desire to be a part of keeping our theater in tip top shape
-Willingness to do some maintenance and janitorial projects
-Being knowledgeable and answering our guest’s questions about upcoming Roxie programing, festivals and special events
-Detail oriented and ability to problem solve in a fast paced environment
-Willing to go above and beyond for our patrons so they are excited to come back and to make every patron feel welcome
-Flexible schedule with the ability to pick up sub shifts
-A multitasker who feels confident in working every position and with a desire to learn
-Spanish speaker a plus!

Our interns are an essential part of the Roxie team. Interns work with the Programming and Operations Departments to learn what it takes to succeed behind-the-scenes of a historic, independent, non-profit cinema. Interning is a great way to meet fellow film-lovers and gain access to our exciting programming and special events! Our interns come from a wide variety of backgrounds, from film school to marketing to media students and everything in between.
Graphic design internship
Currently seeking a graphic design intern! The Roxie graphic design intern will assist the programming and operations team by designing print and digital materials that showcase the Roxie’s fun, unique brand. In turn, you will receive valuable graphic design and content creation experience. This is a great opportunity for an independent film lover to learn how an independent theater works behind the scenes, while creating materials that you can add to your portfolio. This internship is for school credit, and
perks include free admission to all Roxie-produced film screenings and events!

Film Exhibition Internship
The Roxie programming and operations interns assist the programming team with outreach as well as with event planning. Interns help maintain the upkeep of our website and ticketing site by adding new events and showtimes, creating descriptive text, and helping maintain our poster displays. Interns get a behind the scenes look into the booking of a film to the completion of the live screening event, and assist with day to day preparation and outreach along the way. Interns also work with the operations team to support the day to day logistics of running a historic theater! Interns with unique skills such as video editing, photography and other interests have opportunities and are encouraged to expand the parameters of the internship.
