The Roxie Theater is Hiring!

Are you passionate about movies? Do you have excellent customer service skills? Want to be part of the team at the historic Roxie Theater?

Well good news! The Roxie is looking for the right person to join our small pool of exceptional employees. A great position for students! We are looking to train the right person with a flexible schedule to work as a sub and train on each position. 

The Roxie Theater, a San Francisco landmark in the Mission District, brings people together to meet and connect through distinctive cinematic experiences. Guided by the passionate belief that engaging with a movie doesn’t end with the credits, we invite filmmakers, curators, entertainers and educators to interact with our audiences. We provide inspiration and opportunity for the next generation, and serve as a forum for the independent film community reflecting the spirit of the diverse Bay Area population.

This person will train to work positions including Box Office Manager, Concessionaire, Little Roxie, Janitor, House Manager. This person will train to work as a sub and once trained will be eligible to pick up sub shifts on an as needed basis. While experience working in a theater is desirable, it is not a requirement. A passion for exceptional customer service is.

Pay rate: $15-$17.50 per hour, depending on the shift.

Job Responsibilities:

-Able to pick up at least two sub shifts a month

-Using a point of sale (POS) system in Box Office and Concessions & cash handling

-Greeting all customers who come through the door

-Maintaining a clean appearance and work space

-Able to multitask

-Willingness to clean and organize

-Able to serve customers quickly while maintaining great customer service

-Can lift 35 pounds

-Protecting our theaters

-Being a team player who works well with our Roxie family

-Ability to assist with line control, special events and support volunteer staff

-Comfort with technology from Ipad scanning to BluRay players

Desired qualities:

-Love watching movies and sharing your excitement for Roxie programming with our guests

-A passion and desire to be a part of keeping our theater in tip top shape

-Being knowledgeable and answering our guest’s questions about upcoming Roxie programing, festivals and special events

-Detail oriented and ability to problem solve in a fast paced environment

-Willing to go above and beyond for our patrons so they are excited to come back and to make every patron feel welcome

-Flexible schedule with the ability to pick up shifts

-A multitasker who feels confident in working every position and with a desire to learn

-Spanish speaker a plus!

Our interns are an essential part of the Roxie team. Interns work with the Programming and Marketing Departments to learn what it takes to succeed behind-the-scenes of a historic, independent, non-profit cinema.
