Visual Arts: About
In 2010 the Roxie expanded its reach to include visual arts by turning its large storefront window on 16th Street into a public installation space for artists, curated by Roxie staff and guest curators. Roxie Windows provides artists the opportunity to create a public installation within a highly visible and protected space. The Roxie is committed to supporting emerging and established artists.
Artists have included: Morgan Pierce, Mitchell Scott Rouse, Kate Finneran, Andre Stafford, Danny Gotimer & Julie Boddorff, Nick Carpenter, Laurel Nakadate, Paul Knowles, Sarah Anderson and Mark Grothman, Natalie Gomez, Pamela Gilmour, Jim Provenzaño, Lara Whitney, Velvet Valentine, Rosana Ybarra & Keyon Gaskin, Megan Wilson, Jet Martinez, Kelly Ording, Rigo 23 & Daniel Doherty, and Liz Worthy.
In 2012/13 the Roxie continued to grow its visual arts through the transformation of the Little Roxie with new murals in the lobby and bathrooms by artists from community partner Clarion Alley Mural Project – Jet Martinez, Kelly Ording, Bunny Reiss & Ezra Eismont, Megan Wilson, Danny Gotimer and Stev Sechovec.
