LE NOIR DU NUIT - I Wake Up Dreaming 2013 Unveiled!
n evening of rare noir at the Roxie!
On Tuesday, April 23 the Roxie will not only play host to an evening of rare, fascinating noir, but will also be unveiling the line-up of films to be screened next month at our two-week long cavalcade of film noir, I WAKE UP DREAMING 2013 -- which starts Friday, May 10: thirty incredible noir films on the big Roxie screen -- programmed exclusively for the Roxie by Elliot Lavine.
Topping our program on April 23 will be a 16mm print of the ultra rare poverty row noir ONCE A THIEF. This 1950 film was directed by W. Lee Wilder and stars Cesar Romero, June Havoc, Marie MacDonald, Lon Chaney, Jr and Iris Adrian.
On the bill will also be a 30 minute TV noir drama called THE GREEN CONVERTIBLE
which originally aired on "Fireside Theater" back in 1950. Frances Dee and Gertrude Michael star in this provocative melodrama of danger and duplicity. Directed by Frank Wisbar. Both prints come from the remarkable library of Paul Meienberg.
We also plan on debuting the calendar for our upcoming two-week film noir program I WAKE UP DREAMING 2013 which starts Friday, May 10. Thirty incredible noir films on the big Roxie screen!
