TUE MAY 18:
TREASURE OF MONTE CRISTO
Don't let the somewhat misleading title of this film steer you away from what is an exciting modern-day crime noir (set largely in San Francisco) about the mad search for a fortune in jewels. Much is made of the fact that the hero of the story is a direct descendant of Edmond Dantes from "The Count of Monte Cristo," but any further resemblance to the Dumas classic is purely coincidental! Starring Glenn Langan, Adele Jergens, Steve Brodie, and Bobby Jordan. Directed by William Berke. In B&W. 16mm. 76 mins. 1949. TUE at 8:00 only.
THE INVISIBLE WALL
A man becomes helplessly trapped in a murder scheme and, in his efforts to extricate himself, winds up dragging himself deeper into a pit of doom. An engrossing but fairly obscure B noir with lots of peculiar and interesting twists help make it well worth your time. Starring Don Castle ("The Guilty," "High Tide"), Virginia Christine, and Richard Gaines. Directed by Eugene Forde. In B&W. 16mm. 72 mins. 1947. TUE at 6:30 and 9:30.
